Asia Map Quiz: Locate All 46 Countries

Click the right place on the map.

The Asia map quiz asks you to place all 46 Asian countries, and it spans more longitude than any other continental quiz here: the same map holds the Mediterranean shore and the Pacific rim. The giants are free points. The quiz is really decided in three tricky neighborhoods.

The three neighborhoods that decide your score

The Gulf. Seven countries share the Arabian Peninsula, and several of them are small coastal slivers. Qatar is the thumb sticking into the Gulf, Bahrain the island beside it, Kuwait the notch between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and the UAE and Oman interlock at the peninsula’s eastern corner in a way that has humbled many confident players. Yemen anchors the bottom. Get these six around the Saudi mass and the Middle East mostly solves itself.

The -stans. Central Asia’s five: Kazakhstan is the enormous one on top, easy. Below it, west to east along the row: Uzbekistan, then Turkmenistan hanging beneath it on the Caspian side, with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan stacked in the mountainous east. The pair most swapped is Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Kyrgyzstan is the northern one, touching Kazakhstan. That single fact is worth two points a run.

The archipelagos. Maritime Southeast Asia turns the quiz three-dimensional. Indonesia sprawls across thousands of islands, Malaysia splits itself between a peninsula and Borneo, the Philippines scatter to the northeast, and Brunei hides as a dot on Borneo’s coast. Zoom is your friend; the islands are all clickable, but you need to know which island you’re aiming at first.

Elsewhere, enjoy the freebies: no one forgets where India or China is, Japan’s arc is unmistakable, and the Koreas explain themselves. Mainland Southeast Asia rewards one session of care, mainly to stop swapping Laos and Cambodia (Laos is the landlocked one against China; Cambodia sits on the coast below Thailand).

Where to take it next

Lock the map in, then attach data to it: the Asia capitals quiz is dramatically easier once every “-stan” has a fixed address in your head, and the Asia flag quiz turns your new regional clusters into flag families. Then let the world map quiz confirm that Asia is no longer where your points go to die.

Frequently asked questions

How many countries does the Asia quiz include?

All 46 Asian UN members under the UN’s regional grouping, which settles the transcontinental question marks consistently. From the Gulf states through Central, South, East, and Southeast Asia, if the UN files it under Asia, it’s on this map.

What’s the most missed country in Asia?

The small Gulf states and the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan pair trade the title. Both fail for the same reason: players know the names without ever having stared at the neighborhood. Two focused minutes on each cluster converts them into permanent points.

How does the quiz handle island nations?

With zoom and generous hit areas. Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bahrain, and the rest are all present and clickable. The Maldives will test whether you know your Indian Ocean; a chain of atolls is a small target with a very specific location.

Is Asia harder than Africa on the map?

Fewer countries (46 versus 54), so the grind is shorter, but Asia adds island complexity and three dense clusters. Most players find Africa harder overall and Asia’s hardest corners nastier. The correct answer is to master both and compare medal colors on the map quizzes hub.
